When it comes to permanent roofing, it is most often those who have “lived and learned” that are seriously considering it for their home. Folks who have owned a home that had a worn out roof in need of replacement or experienced a hail event, (or two, or three in some cases) are often motivated to seek out something more durable. In the case of those who have experienced multiple hail events and resulting claims it is the unbearably high insurance premiums and deductibles that often follow those claims. For others it is a requirement for the area they live in and not an option, developer’s restrictive covenants and wildfire zones come to mind. Still, for others it is the desire to do it once and forget about it. The inconvenience and expense of maintenance and roof replacement every 15 years or so is often a motivating factor. When looking long term, a permanent roof can be a lower cost option as well.
